MP3398L Step up, 4 strings, Max. 350mA/string Analog and PWM dimming, White LED Controller DESCRIPTION FEATURES The MP3398L is a step-up controller with 4 4-String, Max 350mA/String WLED Driver current channels, which is designed to drive 4.5V to 28V Input Voltage Range WLED arrays for large-size LCD-panel 2.5% Current Matching Accuracy Between backlighting applications. It is flexible to expand Strings the number of LED channels by two or more Programmable Switching Frequency ICs in parallel sharing a single inductive power PWM and Analog Dimming Mode source. Cascading Capability with a Single Power Source The MP3398L uses peak-current mode with LED Open and Short LED Protection fixed switching frequency. The frequency is programmable by an external setting resistor. Programmable Over-Voltage Protection The MP3398L drives an external MOSFET to Recoverable Thermal Shutdown Protection boost up the output voltage from a 5V to 28V Over Current Protection input supply. It regulates the current in each Inductor/Diode short Protection LED string to the value set by an external Under-Voltage Lockout current-setting resistor. SOIC16 Package The MP3398L applies 4 internal current APPLICATIONS sources for current balance. The current Desktop LCD Flat Panel Displays matching can achieve 2.5% regulation accuracy Flat Panel Video Displays between strings.
