Ring PGM5549 is a token-ring transceiver chip manufactured by Texas Instruments. It is designed to facilitate communications between computers, peripherals and other devices on a token-ring network. It supports a range of speeds from 4 Mbps to 16 Mbps and is the only media access control (MAC) device in the IEEE 802.5 Token Ring standard. It has built-in encryption and authentication functions for improved data security.
