The TCA9517DGKR Level-Translating I2C Bus Repeater from Texas Instruments is an interface signal buffer designed for use in applications that require increased flexibility with a limited number of pins and bus lengths. The device has a low-voltage (2.1 V to 3.6 V) and high-voltage (1.65 V to 5.5 V) I²C bus interface, making it ideal for use in systems that use 2.5 V to 5.5 V devices and logic levels. The TCA9517DGKR operates from a single +3.3 V supply and has 4kV ESD protection on inputs and outputs, as well as full system short-circuit and overvoltage protection. The device can be used to buffer and extend I²C bus signals for up to four busses, and it supports data rates up to 400 kHz and Fast Mode Plus speed (1Mb/s). This signal buffer is packaged in an 8-pin VSSOP, making it suitable for use in applications where PCB space is limited.
