TechnologyThe UCS1003-1-BP with Power Switch ICs from Microchip Technology is a power distribution programmable USB port power controller I2C (I2C stands for inter-integrated circuit). This IC is designed to control USB port power distribution in the most optimized and efficient way. It features a controller circuit that is designed to handle multiple power sources, including direct from USB, battery and external DC/ power sources. It can be programmed to turn on or off individual USB port power without affecting the entire system. The UCs1003-1-BP also incorporates a Power Fault Interrupt (PFI) feature, which monitors and detects power faults in the system, and sends an interrupt to the host controller to notify it of an error. Additionally, it integrates a unique flag bit that can be used to identify board-level problems such as over current condition during USB port power distribution. Additionally, it has adjustable current limits, thermal shutdown and fault protection protection circuits.
