The CD4556BE by Texas Instruments is a dual binary 1-of-4 multiplexer/demultiplexer. It is designed to enable applications requiring multiplexing and demultiplexing such as multiplexing of logic or analog signals. The device consists of two sections, each containing two complementary enable (E) inputs, four data inputs (D0–D3), and four data outputs (Q0–Q3). These sections can be used either as a multiplexer or a demultiplexer. When the enable inputs are both low, the selected data (D0–D3) is routed to the Q0–Q3 outputs. In demultiplexer applications, data is routed from one input (D) to four outputs (Q0–Q3). The part is rated for operation from -55°C to +125°C and is available in an 8-Pin PDIP package.
