The CD4017BE is a CMOS Decade Counter/Divider (10-stage divide-by-10 counter) circuit from Texas Instruments. It's an integrated circuit (IC) with 16 pins in a dual-in-line package. The CD4017BE can be used for frequency division applications, counting applications, and for implementing other division ration implementations. It can divide the input frequency by a continuous range between 1/2 and 1/10. There are five active-low outputs that divide the input frequency by 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32. The Decade Counter/Divider also comes with an asynchronous master reset that clears all the outputs. The 13th pin is used for input and the 14th pin is an output, and the remaining pins are used for power and ground connections. The chip is powered using a +5V supply voltage and can operate at temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C.
