The B88069X2641T502 is a Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) or Gas Plasma Arrestor EF 800X manufactured by TDK. This device is designed to protect electronic circuits against overvoltage pulses that can damage the circuits by inrush current and voltage surges due to factors such as lightning strikes and electrostatic discharges. It is a bidirectional device that has two parallel electrodes that completely surround an ionized gas medium. When an overvoltage pulse is applied, the gas medium will ionize to reduce the peak voltage to a safe level. This gas will break down and extinguish when the event that caused the surge has passed, returning it to its normal state. This GDT is designed for use at DC blocking voltage levels of 800V and the rated current is 8.4mA for each electrode. This device also features built-in fail-safe protection technology in case of failure at any time. This is an excellent choice for data and signal lines that require reliable protection from overvoltage events.
