The L4971 is an active current limiting device manufactured by STMicroelectronics. It has an integrated 500 mA power switch which limits the output current when it reaches a level set by the user. It also includes an adjustable precision voltage regulator and protections against inrush current, over-temperature and reverse voltage. The device is suitable for applications such as automotive battery charging, solar regulation, DC/DC conversion, and industrial power supplies.
