The E3T-ST14 2M is a part of Omron's E3T series of Photoelectric/Thru-beam sensors. This particular model is a digital transmitter/receiver that works over a maximum sensing distance of 2m. The sensor has an integrated IR LED light source and receiver, which is triggered by the reflection from a specialized reflector. It is designed for indoor use and can detect any kind of object up to a maximum distance of 2m. It also has Digital Power Supply Rejection that allows the sensor to operate in noisy environments.
