MCP3905A/05L/06A Energy Metering ICs with Active Real Power Pulse Output Features Description The MCP3905A/05L/06A devices are energy-metering Supplies active (real) power measurement for ICs designed to support the IEC 62053 international single-phase, residential energy metering metering standard specification. They supply a Supports IEC 62053 International Energy frequency output proportional to the average active real Metering Specification and legacy IEC power, as well as a higher-frequency output 1036/61036/687 Specifications proportional to the instantaneous power for meter Two multi-bit, DAC, second-order, 16-bit, Delta- calibration. The MCP3905L offers reduced pulse width Sigma Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) of calibration output frequency and mechanical counter Reduced pulse-width of calibration output drive for lower power meter designs. They include two frequency and mechanical counter drive for low 16-bit, Delta-Sigma ADCs for a wide range of I and B power meter designs (MCP3905L) I currents and/or small shunt (<200 Ohms) meter MAX Increased output frequency constant options for designs. It includes an ultra-low drift voltage reference meter design (MCP3905L) with < 15 ppm/C through a specially designed band gap temperature curve for the minimum gradient 0.1% typical measurement error over 500:1 dynamic range (MCP3905A / MCP3905L) across the industrial temperature range. A fixed- function DSP block is on-chip for active real-power 0.1% typical measurement error over 1000:1 calculation. A no-load threshold block prevents any dynamic range (MCP3906A) current creep measurements. A Power-On Reset Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) for small (POR) block restricts meter performance during low- signal inputs supports low value shunt current voltage situations.
