The SP232EEN-L is a high performance, low-power, low-cost RS-232 line driver/receiver with a maximum data rate of up to 120 kbps. It is manufactured by MaxLinear and is packaged in an NSOIC-16 (Narrow-Small Outline Integrated Circuit) package. The device is compatible with standard 10-15 kV ESD protection. It features low power shutdown (current = 0.1 uA) and programmable data format, and includes a transmit enable (TE) logic input to control the driver output. The receiver section of the device contains a hysteresis buffer, enabling it to achieve lower noise immunity without the need for external components. It also contains a programmable power-saving feature that reduces the quiescent power consumption to less than 50 uA. For noise immunity, the device has a patented AutoShutdownTM circuitry. The SP232EEN-L is suitable for applications such as modems, point-of-sale terminals, and industrial process control equipment.
