The TC5088S is a Battery Protection Integrated Circuit (BPI IC) in an 8-pin Small Outline Package (SOP-8). It is designed to protect rechargeable Li-Ion and Li-Polymer cell batteries from over-current, over-charging and over-discharging. This IC is manufactured by the China-based Fuman Electronics Co., Ltd., and conforms to the RoHS directive. It is specifically used for cell phone and PDA applications. The features of the TC5088S are an under voltage lockout, charge current up to 5A, and thermal shutdown protection.
