USB Serial converter USB-KEY is a pin feature included on FTDI USB Serial converters. It is a form of digital key that needs to be held at a logic low state in order to achieve configuration state with the converter. The purpose of this feature is to ensure that sensitive operations dealing with parameters such as serial port type, baud rate and handshake are only accessible after a physical key is set. The key can be connected to an external switch, an I/O port or held at a logic low with a built-in pull-down resistor.
