in-associated protein 2 Contactin-associated protein 2 (Cntnap2) is a cell adhesion molecule that is encoded by the gene CNTNAP2. It is found in cells of the nervous system, such as neurons and glial cells, where it plays an important role in development and maintenance of neuronal circuits. The 12.9585 part of Cntnap2 refers to amino acid residue, specifically Proline (Pro) residue at the 12th position of Cntnap2 protein sequence. This Pro residue is important for the regulation of Cntnap2 function by binding to and stabilizing its interactions with components of the extracellular matrix. It has been shown to be involved in the formation of dendritic spines and the development of neuronal connections.
