Additional Infomation About Product

-5ES The ASB-610 is a high-density, mass-flux burnable absorber (MFB) designed to be used in a CANDU 5-tube energy system (CMG-5ES) reactor core. The ASB-610 is composed of a mix of two materials – gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) and boron carbide (B4C). The Gd2O3 provides the high-density mass-flux burnable absorber (MFB) needed to compensate for the reactivity of the fissionable material in the core, while the B4C is used as an energy absorber to limit the release of energy from fast neutrons. The ASB-610 also includes two inner walls for additional burnable absorber material, a control rod guide tube assembly, and a removable cover to ensure integrity of the assembly. The ASB-610 is designed to be stainless steel, and has a diameter of 24.8 mm.
