Additional Infomation About Product

et al. The CA-130 UKF is a hybrid system developed by Bernstein et al. (2016) to improve the tracking of high-altitude wind across the United States. The system combines the existing Operational Surface Observing System (OSOS) with a new Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). The UKF allows for more flexible and accurate extrapolation of the winds by providing high-fidelity initial conditions for numerical weather forecasting models. The CA-130 UKF is able to detect GPS observations over the adjacent states and incorporate them to improve the forecasts. The CA-130 UKF system has shown improved forecast accuracy compared to analysis and forecasts from the OSOS system, and is now the main wind-tracking system for high-altitude flights in the United States.
