EVALUATION KIT AVAILABLE MAX2837 2.3GHz to 2.7GHz Wireless Broadband RF Transceiver General Description Features The MAX2837 direct-conversion zero-IF RF transceiver 2.3GHz to 2.7GHz Wideband Operation is designed specifically for 2.3GHz to 2.7GHz wireless Complete RF Transceiver, PA Driver, and Crystal broadband systems. The MAX2837 completely integrates Oscillator all circuitry required to implement the RF transceiver 0dBm Linear OFDM Transmit Power function, providing RF-to-baseband receive path and -70dBr Tx Spectral Emission Mask baseband-to-RF transmit path, VCO, frequency synthe- 2.3dB Rx Noise Figure sizer, crystal oscillator, and baseband/control interface. Tx/Rx I/Q Error and LO Leakage Detection The device includes a fast-settling sigma-delta RF syn- Monolithic Low-Noise VCO with -39dBc thesizer with smaller than 20Hz frequency steps and a Integrated Phase Noise crystal oscillator, which allows the use of a low-cost crys- Programmable Tx I/Q Lowpass tal in place of a TCXO. The transceiver IC also integrates Anti-Aliasing Filter circuits for on-chip DC offset cancellation, I/Q error, and Sigma-Delta Fractional-N PLL with carrier-leakage detection circuits. Only an RF bandpass 20Hz Step Size filter (BPF), crystal, RF switch, PA, and a small number of 45dB Tx Gain-Control Range passive components are needed to form a complete wire- 94dB Receive Gain-Control Range less broadband RF radio solution. 60dB Analog RSSI Instantaneous The MAX2837 completely eliminates the need for an Dynamic Range external SAW filter by implementing on-chip monolithic 4-Wire SPI Digital Interface filters for both the receiver and transmitter. The baseband I/Q Analog Baseband Interface filters along with the Rx and Tx signal paths are optimized Digitally Tuned Crystal Oscillator to meet stringent noise figure and linearity specifica- On-Chip Digital Temperature Sensor Read-Out tions. The device supports up to 2048 FFT OFDM and +2.7V to +3.6V Transceiver Supply implements programmable channel filters for 1.75MHz to Low-Power Shutdown Current 28MHz RF channel bandwidths. The transceiver requires Small 48-Pin Thin QFN Package only 2s Tx-Rx switching time, which includes frequency transient settling. The IC is available in a small, 48-pin (6mm x 6mm x 0.8mm) thin QFN package measuring only 6mm x 6mm x 0.8mm.
