The KSZ8851SNL with Ethernet ICs 10/100 Controller w/ SPI Bus I/F by Microchip is a low power, cost-competitive single-chip Ethernet controller designed to integrate Ethernet connectivity with Ethernet Physical Layer transceiver and media access controller functions into system designs. The KSZ8851SNL features a 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) and Physical Layer (PHY) transceiver in an easy-to-use, small footprint package.This Ethernet controller has both SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) and MII (Media Independent Interface) interfaces, allowing for easy integration into existing system designs. The KSZ8851SNL also supports Ethernet frame auto-negotiation options making port configuration and address auto-detection a simple process.The KSZ8851SNL includes a host interface operation through a modified SPI interface for read/write access to its registers, 30kbits internal SRAM for packet buffering and other functions, along with integrated LED controller for supporting link and activity indicators. This Ethernet controller is ideal for connecting embedded devices to wired Ethernet networks, as well as providing connection to high-speed IP networks.
