Metering Systems on a Chip - SoC
A metering system on a chip (SoC) is an integration technology that combines the core functions of a metering system, such as monitoring and measuring energy use, on a single chip. This is done by integrating several individual components such as energy sensors, communication interface, memory, and processors, all within a single chip. By doing this, it enables the metering system to become more efficient, reliable and cost effective. The single chip solution is able to reduce the overall size of the system and make it highly portable. Furthermore, the SoC approach provides for programmability, enabling the system to be adapted to a wide range of applications such as load monitoring, power quality analysis, fault detection and control, sensor calibration and asset management. This helps to drive down the overall deployment cost as well as reduce associated maintenance costs.
