MIC29710/29712 7.5A Fast-Response LDO Regulator General Description Features The MIC29710 and MIC29712 are high-current, high-accu- Fast transient response racy, low-dropout voltage regulators featuring fast transient 7.5A current capability recovery from input voltage surges and output load current 700mV dropout voltage at full load changes. These regulators use a PNP pass element that Low ground current features Micrels proprietary Super eta PNP process. Accurate 2% guaranteed tolerance The MIC29710 is available in the 3-pin fixed output and Zero current shutdown mode (MIC29712) the MIC29712 is available in the 5-pin adjustable output voltage. Both versions are fully protected against Fixed voltage and adjustable versions overcurrent faults, reversed lead insertion, over- temperature operation, and positive and negative transient Applications voltage spikes. Pentium , Pentium Plus, and Power PC processor A TTL compatible enable (EN) control pin supports supplies external on/off control. If on/off control is not required, the High-efficiency green computer systems device maybe continuously enabled by connecting EN to High-efficiency linear power supplies IN. High-efficiency switching supply post regulator The MIC29710 is available in the standard 3-pin TO-220 package the MIC29712 is available in the 5-pin TO-220 Battery-powered equipment package with an operating junction temperature range of 0C to +125C. For applications requiring even lower dropout voltage or input voltage greater than 16V, see the MIC29750/29752.
