Argus The GPM-G (General Purpose Machine--Ground) was part of the Ferranti Argus computer system, which was a range of general-purpose computers developed in the 1950s by Ferranti. The GPM-G was a peripheral processor that handled data processing tasks separate from the main computer processor. It was designed to run large programs quickly, and to process data in real-time. The GPM-G was designed to be powerful and reliable, and was one of the first viable implementations of multi-processor technology. It featured a variety of memory and I/O devices, and could communicate with other peripherals in the Ferranti Argus system.
