ACT6391 2.5A PWM Step-Up DC/DC Converter In MSOP FEATURES GENERAL DESCRIPTION Greater than 90% Efficiency The ACT6391 is a high-performance, fixed-frequency, current-mode PWM step-up DC/DC converter that Adjustable Output Voltages Up to 12V incorporates internal power MOSFETs. The ACT6391s Internal 14V Power MOSFET integrated 0.15 power MOSFET supports currents of 2.5A Peak Current up to 2.5A. Selectable 700kHz/1.3MHz Frequency The ACT6391 utilizes simple external loop Integrated Over-Voltage Protection (OVP) compensation and a pin-selectable fixed-frequency of Programmable Soft-Start Function either 700kHz or 1.3MHz, allowing optimization Thermal Shutdown between component size, cost, and AC performance Cycle-by-Cycle Over Current Protection across a wide range of applications. Additional functions Small MSOP-8 Package include an externally programmable soft-start function for easy inrush current control, internal over-voltage protection (OVP), cycle-by-cycle current limit protection, APPLICATIONS and thermal shutdown. Connect to a resistor R and capacitor C in series to ground. C C Feedback Input. Connect this pin a resistor divider from the output to set the output voltage. FB is 2 FB regulated to 1.24V. Enable Control. Connect to a logic high level to enable the IC. Connect to a logic low level to disable 3 EN the IC. When unused, connect EN pin to IN (do not leave pin floating). 4 G Ground. Switch Output. Connect this pin to the inductor and the schottky diode. To minimize EMI, minimize 5 SW the PCB trace path between this pin and the input bypass capacitor. 6 IN Supply Input. Bypass to G with a 1F or larger capacitor. Frequency Setting Pin. A logic low sets the switching frequency at 700kHz. A logic high sets the 7 FREQ switching frequency at 1.3MHz. This pin has an internal 5.5A pull-down current. Soft Start Control Input. Connect a capacitor from this pin to G to set soft-start timing duration 5 8 SS (tSS = 2.2 x 10 x CSS).
