Description 3M Polyester Film Tape 56 is a 1-mil yellow polyester film with rubber thermosetting
adhesive.
Applications The 56 tape is especially suited for use as layer insulation and coil cover in 130
applications.
Agency Approvals UL recognized component listing not to exceed 130C (266F), Product Category
& Self Certifications OANZ2, and 3M File No. E17385
UL File Number E17385 A and B, Guide OANZ2. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) recognized products
have been evaluated for use as components of end-product equipment that is listed or classified by
UL. To achieve Underwriters Laboratories recognition, component construction must meet UL
specifications and conditions of acceptability for proper and safe use of the component or product.

3M Polyester Film Electrical Tape 56
Specifications 3M Polyester Film Tape 56 is a polyester film-backed tape with thermosetting rubber
pressure-sensitive adhesive.
The tape shall be coated on one side with pressure-sensitive adhesive, which shall not
require heat, moisture or other preparation prior to or subsequent to application. The
adhesive coating shall be smooth and uniform and be free of lumps and bare spots.
There shall be no separator between adjacent layers of the roll. The tape shall
perform at a temperature of -40F (-40C) to 266F (130C) without substantial loss of
tensile or electrical properties.
Shelf Life & Storage This product has a 5-year shelf life from date of manufacture when stored in a humidity
controlled storage (10C/50F to 27C/80F and <75% relative humidity).
Availability 3M Electrical Tape 56 is available in standard and custom widths and lengths.
Standard length is 72 yards.
