Evaluates: MAX4986 19-5166 Rev 0 2/10 MAX4986 Evaluation Kit General Description Features The MAX4986 evaluation kit (EV kit) provides a proven S One SATA Host Connector design to evaluate the MAX4986 SAS/SATA 2:1/1:2 mul- S Two SATA Device Connectors tiplexer/demultiplexer. The EV kit contains four sections: S Application Circuit with SATA Inputs/Outputs an application circuit, characterization circuit, and two S Eye Diagram Test Circuit with SMA Inputs/ sets of calibration traces. Outputs The application circuit is designed to demonstrate the MAX4986 in multiplexing and equalizing SAS/SATA sig- S Calibration Traces (50I Load Trace and Through Trace) nals. This section of the EV kit operates from an external +5V supply that is regulated by an on-board LDO to S Proven PCB Layout +3.3V, which powers the MAX4986 (U1). All traces in S Fully Assembled and Tested the application circuit are 100I differential controlled- impedance traces. The characterization circuit is provided for eye diagram evaluation using SMA connectors and 50I controlled- Ordering Information impedance traces.
