MAX17608/MAX17609/ 4.5V to 60V, 1A Current Limiter MAX17610 with OV, UV, and Reverse Protection General Description Benefits and Features The Olympus series of ICs are the industrys smallest Robust Protection Reduces System Downtime and robust integrated system protection solutions. The Wide Input-Supply Range: +4.5V to +60V MAX17608/MAX17609/MAX17610 adjustable overvoltage Hot Plug-in Tolerant Without TVS up to 35V Input Supply and overcurrent protection devices are ideal to protect systems against positive and negative input voltage faults up Negative Input Tolerance to -65V Low R 260m (typ) to +60V and -65V, and feature low 260m (typ) R FETs. ON ON Reverse Current-Blocking Protection The adjustable input overvoltage protection range is 5.5V Thermal Overload Protection to 60V and the adjustable input undervoltage protection Extended -40C to +125C Temperature Range range is 4.5V to 59V. The input overvoltage-lockout MAX17608 Enables OV, UV, and Reverse Voltage (OVLO) and undervoltage-lockout (UVLO) thresholds are Protection set using external resistors. Additionally, the devices offer MAX17609 Enables OV and UV Protection an internal input undervoltage threshold at 4V (typ). MAX17610 Enables Reverse Voltage Protection The devices feature programmable current-limit protection Flexible Design Options Enable Reuse and Less up to 1A hence, controlling the inrush current at startup Requalification while charging high capacitances at the output. Current- Adjustable OVLO and UVLO Thresholds limit threshold is programmed by connecting a resistor from Programmable Forward-Current Limit: 0.1A to 0.2A the SETI pin to GND. When the device current reaches with 5% Accuracy and 0.2A to 1.0A with 3% the programmed threshold, the device prevents further Accuracy Over Full Temperature Range increases in current by modulating the FET resistance. The Programmable Overcurrent Fault Response: devices can be programmed to behave in three different Autoretry, Continuous, and Latch-Off Modes ways under current-limit condition: Autoretry, Continous, or Smooth Current Transitions Latch-off modes. The voltage appearing on the SETI pin is Saves Board Space and Reduces External BOM proportional to the instantaneous current flowing through Count the device and is read by an ADC. 12-Pin, 3mm x 3mm, TDFN-EP Package MAX17608 and MAX17610 block current flowing in the Integrated FETs reverse direction (i.e., from OUT to IN) whereas MAX17609 allows current flow in the reverse direction.
