MAX14986 Dual 6GT/s SAS/SATA Redriver with Equalization and Extended Temperature Operation General Description Benefits and Features The MAX14986 dual-channel redriver is designed to High-Performance Solution Designed to Overcome redrive one full lane of SAS or SATA signals up to 6.0GT/s Lossy Channels (gigatransfers per second) and operates from a single 3dB of Independent (per Channel) Selectable Input +3.3V supply. EQ and Output Preemphasis The MAX14986 features independent input equalization Compensates Up to 30in of Channel Losses with and output preemphasis. It enhances signal integrity at Deterministic Jitter: 23ps (max) Random Jitter: P-P the receiver by equalizing the signal at the input and 1.5ps (max) RMS establishing preemphasis at the output of the device. SAS 8dB (typ) of Return Loss Up to 3.0GHz and SATA OOB (out-of-band) signaling is supported using Designed to Reliably Operate in Harsh Environments high-speed amplitude detection on the inputs and squelch Industrial Temperature Rated: -40C to +85C on the corresponding outputs. Inputs and outputs are all 2.5kV Human Body Model (HBM) ESD Protection internally 50 terminated and must be AC-coupled to the on All Pins SAS/SATA controller IC and SAS/SATA device.
