The DP83640TVV/NOPB device by Texas Instruments is an Ethernet IC (Integrated Circuit) with a precise time protocol transceiver. This IC is suitable for industrial Ethernet applications like EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, etc., and provides multiple sources of synch for IEEE 1588 precision time protocol (PTP) applications. It is the highest integration solution in the industry for PTP applications and provides the highest accuracy and jitter performance available with any silicon-based transceiver. The DP83640TVV/NOPB features a three-port IEEE 1588-compliant time synchronization platform, an integrated IEEE 1588-compliant processor, precise time-stamping mechanism, two External synchronization ports (ESP) to accept reference clocks (up to two different sources), and two built-in oscillators for system clock and time-stamping reference clock generation. It also incorporates optimizations for EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and computer network timing (CNTP) applications.
