The L6566B is a power factor correction (PFC) multi-mode PWM controller designed for flyback and forward converter topologies with active or passive clamp reset techniques. This controller is manufactured by STMicroelectronics and is ideal for use in low-end lighting applications such as LED packages for residential and commercial lighting. It comes with a wide range of features, including programmable peak primary current limit and soft start, as well as a unique zero voltage clamping during the first cycle and improved power efficiency up to 95%. Its maximum load current can be set in order to protect power supplies from sudden overloads and short circuits. With its integrated protection circuitry, it also provides over-temperature protection on the primary side.
